Burgeons.
<<2005-11-12 - 11:56 p.m.>>

I love that one never stops making friends. I have two new friends. After a night of competing for cleverest callback at a Hindi historical epic (with occasional dancing intervals) (I learned that flowing water means sex), Pen (who as a rule is a little chilly and standoffish) made a point of pulling me aside to mention that we should get coffee this week. I agreed that we should. And then I drove home with Lauren, who is another new friend of recent days, acquired at Megan's opening via spirited renditions of the inside scoop on the Horowitz lecture.

On the downside of never-stop-making-friends, I worry that my very vigorous crush makes me a bad human. He is seeing someone and I am seeing someone and nevertheless I turn it on bright and bold when I run into him in the library lobby and he asks me to work with him on a class thing and I ask him to help me format my thesis and we smile and smile and smile.

I get out of Lauren's car and she is off to two birthday parties in different places; Ken is out eating late-night snacks with a friend in the East Village after a show after a play; yes, clearly, my social life, it burgeons.
