Minnesota <<2005-02-27 - 6:07 p.m.>> Nikki, in Minnesota, has a bad week: yells in class at a girl who says exactly what Nikki herself said about a year and a half ago about prostitution, and fights bombastically with her friends and calls to tell me she almost broke up with Eliza—they laughed, they cried, they held each other and Eliza said nice things—I love you, you're pretty—and the fact that those were the nice things that one would say in an emotionally fraught situation made me laugh and laugh and laugh. And this response reminded Nikki of how much she likes me, and she is glad that I am coming to visit and so am I—Minnesota, twelve days and counting down. Chloë hates the idea of Minnesota (cold, Mall of America, airports). Maybe because she doesn't know there's melodrama and boxed wine. << - >> |
